Assam is one of the important states of eastern India. On April 2, 2025, the Assam State Election Commission issued a press release regarding panchayat elections in the state.
It is stated that the Panchayati Elections (General Elections) will be conducted in 27 districts of the state.

Election / Polling
Polling will be done in two phases. Some districts will come under phase one and others will come under phase two.

1st Phase - 2 May 2025
1st phase Districts - Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Sivasagar, Majuli, Jorhat, Golaghat, Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Sonitpur, Biswanath, Cachar, Hailakandi and Sribhumi
2nd Phase - 7 May 2025
2nd Phase Districts - Dhubri, South Salmara Mankachar, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Bajali, Nalbari, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon and Darrang.
Time will remain the same for both phases - 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM
Re-Poll
If needed repoll for 1st phase will be conducted on 4 May 2025 and for 2nd phase will be conducted on 9 May 2025.

- Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC)
- Aadhar Card
- MNREGA Card
- Passbooks with photographs issued by Banks or Post Offices
- Driving License
- PAN Card
- Indian Passport etc
Counting
Counting for both phases will be done on the same day. Votes will be counted on 11 May 2025 from 8 AM onwards till the completion of the counting.
Other information
The last date for filling nominations is 11 April 2025 from 11 am to 3 pm. The date of withdrawal of candidature is 17 April 2025 (up to 3 PM). The list of contesting candidates will be published on 17 April 2025 (after 3 PM).
Number of Voters in 2025
The total number of voters in Assam for elections is 18036682. Out of it 9071264 are male and 8965010 are females. While others are 408.
The number of polling stations is 25007.
Earlier in 2018, the total number of voters was 15641456. It has increased 13.27% now. The number of polling stations has also increased by 6%. Earlier this number was 23505.
